RMIT Activator is excited to announce the twelve teams (too hard to select just ten!) who have been competitively selected for our LaunchHUB July 2018 startup cohort. From a diverse array of applications, the tough decision came down to key criterium around team, technology, traction and the vision of the founders.
Julie Stevens, LaunchHUB manager said: “While it made for a tough final selection process, we are really encouraged to see such promising startup talent amongst our RMIT community. One of the benefits of a University based accelerator program is the breadth of expertise we are able to tap into across the University, as well as the University itself representing a large marketplace to test business ideas. So we will be tapping into the wealth of RMIT resources to support these teams”.
The eleven teams will be taken through twelve weeks of intensive and immersive business building to launch and grow their early stage startup.
As part of the LaunchHUB experience, teams are provided with 24-hour access to a co-working space, RMIT experts, mentoring and networks, as well as Activator’s Capital Fund. The fund provides successful teams interest-free loans up to $25,000 to help them on their startup journey.
LaunchHUB participants also receive exclusive access to networking events, workshops, masterclasses and showcase opportunities.
Our commitment to diversity is reflected across the types of businesses we have chosen to support, including the eight females (founders and co-founders) who are part of this dynamic cohort. Additionally, founders are representative across the breadth of our RMIT community including alumni, staff, researchers, and students.
We are looking forward to supporting the teams who are solving some interesting problems with uniques solutions founded in tech, non-tech and social enterprise. The breadth of startups includes:
- AI/Machine learning,
- Data analytics
- Branding solutions
- Functional design
- Cyber Security
- Sustainable toys
Activator runs three accelerator programs each year supported by strong pipeline building activities across our other programs – in particular, Bootcamp followed by Sandbox. Sandbox is a comprehensive twelve-week program focusing on business model and market development.
Stay tuned to Activator – sign up to the community if you haven’t – and keep your eye out for in-depth profiles of the teams and their progress which will be released each week during the program.
Last but not least, here is the final list of teams we will be welcoming into LaunchHUB on July 16th, 2018.
